Fully guided, all inclusive tours of châteaux and vineyards


Throughout the year we offer 3 or 5 night tours including luxury accommodation at Maison de la Roseraie (main house and gîte) for up to 6 guests depending on your configuration. The maximum group size will be 6 to ensure we can give our personal attention and optimise your stay.

Included in the price of your tour is all accommodation, food (3 meals per day with a restaurant lunch each day), all drinks including wine and beer, all châteaux entrance fees and vineyard entry and tasting charges, transfers from Poitiers airport or TGV station.

Please advise us well in advance of any dietary requirements – we can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lacto-free, or any other allergies/requirements.

In the unlikely case of any of the châteaux or restaurants being closed due to exceptional circumstances we will provide suitable alternatives.


3 Nights / 4 Days Tour - Autumn 2025 Itinerary

Day 1 (Tuesday)

Arrive in Poitiers (airport or TGV train station) and transfer by private car to Maison de la Roseraie. Settle into your accommodation and meet for welcome drinks with Kevin and Anna and your fellow tour guests. Get to know you over a 3 course dinner chez nous.

Day 2

After breakfast we will drive to the town of Fontevraud l’Abbaye and visit the 1,000-year-old abbey, resting place of Eleanor of Aquitaine, wife of Louis VII and Queen of France, later wife of Henry II and Queen of England and mother of Richard the Lionheart. After exploring the abbey and its rich history you’ll enjoy a gourmet 3 course lunch at a restaurant and travel on to the enchanting Château La Mothe Chandeniers before returning to Maison de la Roseraie for a wine tasting in our ancient 1606 wine barn and dinner chez nous.

Day 3

Once breakfast is finished, we will visit the historic town of Richelieu. Made famous by the Cardinal of Richelieu, the town is a unique example of 17th century urban planning known as the original new town or grid city. Surrounded by ramparts and moats it's a beautiful spot to explore and enjoy a coffee and pastry in the central square. From Richelieu we'll travel on to Château du Rivau where you'll enjoy lunch featuring produce from the château's extensive potager and admire the rose collection in the gardens and curated art inside the château. Next, we'll head to the medieval fortress town of Chinon famous for its magnificent castle, once home to Henry II (husband of Eleanor of Aquitaine), Plantagenist, crowned King of England in 1154. After admiring the stunning castle and environs it will be time to visit a vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. In the evening we'll taste some Chinon wine and enjoy a relaxed dinner chez nous.

Day 4 (Friday)

It's nearly time to say au revoir. But there are still a few hours so after breakfast it’s time to relax -maybe take a walk or relax by the pool (weather permitting) then we'll eat a 3 course lunch in our local village restaurant before taking you back to Poitiers to catch your plane or train.

Fully Inclusive Cost £1,250 per person based on 2 people sharing a double or twin room. Supplement for sole occupancy is £150.00. 

The only additional cost is your return travel to Poitiers from your home.

 


 

5 nights / 6 days Autumn 2025 Itinerary

Day 1 (Tuesday)

Day 2 (Wednesday)

Day 3 (Thursday)

After breakfast the first stop of the day is Montreuil Bellay a pretty town in the Saumur wine region. We’ll visit the renaissance château with its beautiful gardens, richly furnished rooms and vaulted wine cellars. Next we’ll head to Château d’Oiron for lunch and a visit to this stately château. The château contains a number of incredible art galleries as well as breathtaking fresco ceilings. In the late afternoon it’s back to Maison de la Roseraie for wine tasting, and dinner.

Day 4 (Friday)

Once breakfast is finished, we’ll head to the medieval fortress town of Chinon famous for its magnificent castle, once home to Henry II (husband of Elenor of Aquitaine), Plantagenet, crowned King of England in 1154. After admiring the stunning castle and its environs it will be time to visit a vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. Next stop is Richelieu, made famous by the Cardinal of Richelieu. The town is a unique example of 17th century urban planning known as the original new town or grid city. It’s in Richelieu that the Michelin accredited restaurant La Fossé Sainte Ange is found and this is where you’ll experience the most wonderful lunch. From Richelieu we’ll travel on to Château du Rivau which showcases 14 different magnificent gardens complete with peacocks, admire the rose collection, potager and more as well as a gallery of curated art inside the château. In the evening we'll taste some Chinon wine and enjoy a relaxed dinner chez nous.

Day 5 (Saturday)

After breakfast it’s time to head to Château de Villandry, the last of the great Loire Valley châteaux to be built during the renaissance. Under the ownership of Francis I the château was transformed from a medieval fortress to a design with a focus on aesthetics. Today, the château is considered a fine example of renaissance architecture. From Château Villandry we will travel to Maison de Pays du Loudunais, our local tourist centre. The maison comprises a store offering products from over 100 local producers and artisans and the restaurant de la Maison de Pays where we will have lunch. After an opportunity to buy any souvenirs and gifts our last stop of the day will be at the museum Renaudot in Loudun. Theophraste Renaudot was a doctor, journalist and philanthropist who lived from 1586-1653. He is famed for inventing the ancient equivalent of the job centre, establishing France’s first weekly newspaper and the first pawn shop. Back to Maison de la Roseraie for our last evening together and a freshly prepared meal chez nous.

Day 6 (Sunday)

It's nearly time to say au revoir.
